[Collaboration & Automation](https://help.setyl.com/integrations?hsLang=en#collaboration-automation) # Setyl AI MCP connector: connect Claude, ChatGPT and other AI assistants ## Use Setyl's AI MCP connector to ask questions about your data, update records and build reports in plain language. Setyl's AI MCP connector lets you connect Setyl to AI assistants such as Claude and ChatGPT. MCP (Model Context Protocol) is an open standard that lets AI assistants work securely with other apps. Once connected, you can ask about your Assets, People and Apps in plain language, and have the assistant update records for you. The AI MCP connector is available on all Setyl plans. ### What you can do with it - **Find information:** "How many laptops are available to assign?" or "List all Apple MacBooks that are at least four years old." - **Update records in bulk:** "Find Assets past their useful life and set their status to Scheduled Removal." - **Import from documents:** attach a PDF contract and ask the assistant to add the license details, seats, pricing and dates to Setyl. - **Reconcile data:** compare a reseller's CSV or recent receipts with Setyl and fill in missing details. - **Prepare for audits:** "Review our account before our ISO 27001 audit and flag any gaps." - **Tidy up People:** "Archive people who left more than six months ago and have no Assets or Apps assigned." ### Is it secure? Each person connects with their own Setyl account. The assistant can only see and change what that person's Setyl role allows, and only in the organization they choose. The assistant never sees your password or API keys. ### Turn on the connector Owners, Managers and Supervisors can change these settings. 1. In Setyl, go to **AI MCP** in the left menu. 2. Make sure **Enable MCP Connector** is turned on. 3. Choose whether to allow **Enable Write Action**. When it's on, AI assistants can create, update and archive records, still within each person's permissions. When it's off, they can only read data. 4. Copy the **Setyl MCP Endpoint**. You'll need it to connect most assistants. ### Connect Claude The quickest way is to add Setyl from the [Claude directory](https://claude.ai/directory/setyl?q=setyl). To add it manually instead: 1. In Claude, go to **Settings \> Connectors**, click **Add**, then **Add custom connector**. 2. Name it **Setyl** and paste the **Setyl MCP Endpoint**. 3. Click **Add**, then **Connect**. 4. Sign in to Setyl if asked, confirm the organization and click **Authorize**. On Claude Team or Enterprise plans, a workspace owner may need to add the connector first. ### Connect ChatGPT 1. If your ChatGPT plan requires it, turn on developer mode under **Settings \> Security and login**. Your workspace admin may control this. 2. Create a new custom connector called **Setyl**. 3. Paste the **Setyl MCP Endpoint** as the server URL and choose **OAuth**. 4. Leave the OAuth Client ID and Client Secret empty, then create the connector. 5. Click **Connect** or **Sign in with Setyl**, and authorize. ### Connect another AI assistant Any assistant that supports remote MCP servers with OAuth can connect. 1. Add a new remote MCP server using the **Setyl MCP Endpoint**. 2. Choose **OAuth**, and leave the Client ID and Secret empty. You don't need an API key. 3. Sign in to Setyl and authorize. Full details are in the [developer documentation](https://developers.setyl.com/mcp). ### See and remove connections - **Review connections:** go to **AI MCP**. Under **Active MCP Connections** you'll see everyone who has connected an AI assistant, which assistant it is, when they connected and when it was last used. Click **Revoke** to remove a connection. - **Turn it off for everyone:** turn off **Enable MCP Connector**. This removes every active connection, and people will need to reconnect if you turn it back on. ### Tips - AI assistants can make mistakes. Before a bulk change, ask the assistant to list what it's going to change, and check it first. - If an action fails, the person who connected may not have permission for it in Setyl.
