How do I set the criticality of an Asset or App?
Mark how important each Asset and App is to your business, so you can prioritize security, support and replacements.
Criticality shows how much your business depends on an Asset or App. It helps you focus your attention where it matters, in line with ITIL good practice, for example when planning security reviews, support cover or replacements. Each Asset and App can be:
- Critical
- High
- Medium
- Low
- None (the default)
Set the criticality of an Asset
- Open the Asset and go to its Overview tab.
- In Status & Assignments, click the pencil icon.
- Choose a Criticality and save.
To set criticality for many Assets at once, select them on Assets > All Assets and use bulk edit, or update the Criticality column with + > Bulk Upload / Update. See How can I bulk edit Assets? and How do I bulk upload or update records?
Find Assets with no criticality
Go to Assets > Suggestions and select the No Criticality tab. This lists every Asset still set to None. Click Update next to an Asset to set its criticality without leaving the page.
Set the criticality of an App
- Open the App and go to its Overview tab.
- In Details, click the pencil icon.
- Choose a Criticality and click Update App.
You can also set an App's Tier and Authentication Method here.
See criticality across your Apps
Apps > Overview and Insights > Reports > Apps show how many Apps are at each level of criticality, and how they sign in, so you can check that your most critical Apps are the best protected. See How do I see an overview of my Apps and software spend?
