How can I use a barcode scanner to add assets into Setyl?

Firstly, you need to make sure the Assets already have a digital profile within Setyl. Then:

  1. Attach a Setyl Asset label to the assets. This asset label has a unique QR code.
  2. When you have attached a label to each Asset, open the Setyl platform on the device you are using (we recommend a laptop or portable device as it will give you more flexibility).
  3. Head to “Assets” and “All Assets” where you will find the digital profiles of all of your Assets, waiting to be assigned a 6 digit ID from the asset label.

You have 2 options from here:

  1. Option 1: Export your existing Assets in the platform into a CSV file, input the Asset ID’s into the spreadsheet using a barcode reader, and then re-upload that data. No duplicates of Assets will be made as long as you keep the “External Link” field in the spreadsheet the same for each Asset.
  2. Option 2: Add the Asset ID’s to the Assets within the platform using the “table” view.

Option 1:

  1. Export the Assets you wish to add Asset ID’s to
  2. Go to “Settings” in the bottom left hand corner of the platform
  3. In “Personal Settings” find “Exported Files” and open the file
  4. Plug the barcode scanner into the device you are using
  5. In the “Asset ID” column of the spreadsheet, move your cursor into the appropriate cell for that specific Asset and scan the Setyl asset label
  6. The Asset ID will immediately be inputted into the cell
  7. Repeat for all Assets
  8. Once finished, use the Bulk Upload feature within the platform to bulk update those Assets with their Asset ID’s

Note: Ensure to keep the “External Link” field the same for each Asset to ensure that the Assets are only updated and no duplicates are made.

Option 2:

  1. Plug the barcode scanner into the device you are using
  2. Enter “table” view
  3. Click on the “edit” icon of an Asset you want to add an Asset ID to
  4. On the right hand side of your screen a side edit screen will slide out
  5. Move your cursor into the “Asset ID”
