Connecting Setyl with Jira Service Management is an easy way to cross-sync and track information across both platforms
Making the Connection
Step 0: Before Starting
- Ensure your role within Setyl is “Owner” level. Authentication settings are only visible to this role level.
- Ensure that you have relevant Administrator privileges in Jira Service Management, in order to install and connect the Setyl App.
- Ensure your Organization subscribes to Setyl's API service.
Step 1: Install Setyl App in Jira
- Find the Setyl marketplace listing in Jira and install it: https://marketplace.atlassian.com/apps/1234360
- Go to an open support ticket, and look for the Setyl logo. This confirms the Setyl app is installed.
3. In the top right of the window, click on the "..." menu item > "Setyl settings". Leave this window open:
Step 2: Configuring the integration in Setyl
4. In a new tab, open app.setyl.com > Settings > Company Settings > API Service
5. Click "Add New API Key" and create a key for the Jira connection. We recommend naming this something like "Jira Connection".
6. Copy paste the Consumer ID and Private API Key from Setyl, into the Jira settings tab.
7. Save, then close the window in Jira.
8. In Setyl, go to Settings > Integrations > Scroll down to "Jira Service Management" item and click "Connect".
Step 3: Testing the connection
8. From within Jira, look for the Setyl modal within each support ticket. Test the connection by searching for an Asset or something you know is recorded within Setyl:
You should see search results returned, with the ability to link the Jira ticket to relevant Setyl records.
9. Go to Setyl, and check that you can see "Support Tickets" as a menu item on the left. You will also be able to see a list of linked support tickets for each Setyl record, including People, Assets, Apps, Locations, Legal Entities and Departments.
