Companies often have a standard set of assets or applications that are assigned to employees based on their job role or department. Kits in Setyl are designed to capture this process. This guide will explain what Kits are and how to utilize them.
What are Kits?
Kits in Setyl allow you to create groups of assets and applications as templates which can be used for onboarding employees. They can also be utilized for managing inventory and receiving low stock notifications for assets based on customizable thresholds.
Kits are made up of Asset Groups and Applications and can contain as many Asset Groups or Applications as needed.
Kits are completely customizable and can be created for any scenario. They are most often used as templates for a specific role, department, or location. For example, you might create a Kit called “Developer Kit – UK.”
What are Asset Groups?
An Asset Group is a collection of assets meeting certain criteria, specifications or filters. An Asset Group can be as broad or as specific as you choose. For example:
-
An Asset Group called "Laptops" could include all assets with the asset type “Laptops.”
-
A more specific Asset Group could be "Apple MacBooks (512 GB)", containing all Apple MacBooks with that storage size.
Kits can also share the same Asset Group. For example, if multiple departments receive the same Apple MacBook, that Asset Group can be used in both Kits. Inventory and stock levels will be tracked automatically across all Kits that use it.
