# Setyl's Automatic Warranty finder for Assets

## An introduction to Setyl's automatic warranty finding service

The Warranty Finder looks up each device's warranty on the manufacturer's website and fills in its warranty details for you. It's included in the Complete and Advanced plans.

### What it fills in

Where the manufacturer provides them, the Warranty Finder fills in:

- Purchase date
- Warranty expiry date
- Warranty type

### Supported manufacturers

- Acer
- Apple
- ASUS
- Dell
- HP
- Lenovo
- Microsoft (including Surface)

Other manufacturers, such as Epson, aren't supported yet. To request one, email [hello@setyl.com](mailto:hello@setyl.com).

### Which assets it runs on

The Warranty Finder checks an Asset when all of these are true:

- the manufacturer is supported;
- the Asset has a serial number;
- the manufacturer provides warranty details from the serial number alone, with no other product details needed;
- the Asset isn't archived;
- no warranty expiry date has been entered yet.

### When it runs

Setyl tries to fetch the warranty as soon as the Asset is created, whether you add it manually, by bulk upload or from an integration. If that doesn't work, for example because the manufacturer's site is unavailable, Setyl tries 2 more times, 7 days apart. You can see the status on each Asset's profile and under **Assets \> Warranties**. If all attempts fail, you can retry from the Asset's profile.

### Apple devices and Apple Business

If you connect Apple Business (formerly Apple Business Manager), Setyl gets warranty details for your Apple devices directly from Apple Business. This gives more reliable results than looking them up on Apple's website. For Apple devices that aren't in Apple Business, Setyl falls back to the website lookup. Warranty details from Apple Business replace any found on the website.

### Turn the Warranty Finder on or off

It's on by default if your plan includes it. To change it:

1. Go to **Settings \> Company Settings \> General**.
2. Under **Automatically fetch warranty information**, turn **Warranty finder enabled** on or off.
3. Click **Save**.

Setyl doesn't guarantee that the manufacturer's information is accurate. You can edit any warranty field yourself.
