Setyl integrates with Slack to help organizations manage their Slack licenses and user accounts. This guide explains how to connect Slack to Setyl, what permissions are required, and how data is used.
How the Slack direct app connection works
Once connected, Setyl automatically pulls user and license data from Slack every 24hrs. Data can also be synced manually at any time by triggering a manual sync.
What data is synced?
Setyl will sync the following data:
- User Information: Name, email, phone number, job title, role and status.
- License Details: Assigned licenses, available seats, and usage.
How to configure the Slack connection
Prerequisites
Before connecting Slack to Setyl, ensure you have:
- Administrator access to your Slack workspace.
- A Setyl account with Owner-level admin permissions.
Connecting Slack to Setyl

Navigate to Settings > Integrations in Setyl.
- Under Direct App Connections locate Slack

Click Connect.

Follow the on screen instructions to obtain an API Token from Slack. Fill in the API Token.

Click Save and Connect.
Please note that it may take several minutes before data begins to sync after the connection has been made.
Trigger a manual sync
You can manually sync data from Slack by:
- Navigating to Settings > Integrations.
- Locate Slack under Direct App Connections.
- Select the 3 Dot Menu.
- Select Sync Now.
Troubleshooting
If the integration fails to connect:

Double-check your API Token.
- Disconnect and reauthorize the Slack connection.

Ensure API access is enabled in Slack settings.
