Asset Auto Update keeps asset records in Setyl up to date by automatically syncing changes from connected integrations, including MDMs, RMMs, and other detection sources.
How does Asset Auto Update work?
When Asset Auto Update is enabled, Setyl will:
-
Automatically update fields for existing assets after an integration sync
- Updating of fields is based on the asset integration prioritization.
Asset Auto Update is enabled by default for all integrations.
This setting is account-wide and cannot be turned on or off for individual integrations. If you disable it, auto-updates will stop for all asset detection integrations across your organization.
How often does Asset Auto Update occur?
Asset Auto Update runs on the same schedule as each integration's sync schedule.
Most asset detection integrations sync with Setyl once every 24 hours, Monday to Friday. To check the sync schedule for a particular integration please refer to the relevant integration guide.
You can also trigger a manual sync at any time from the Integrations or Assets section. For more information on how to trigger a manual sync please refer to the relevant integration guide.
Which fields are auto-updated?
Setyl will automatically update any fields that are synced from your connected integrations.
The specific fields updated will vary depending on the integration. For a full list of synced fields, please refer to the relevant integration guide.
How to enable or disable Asset Auto Update
To change Auto Update settings:
-
Navigate to Settings > Company Settings in Setyl.
-
Select Asset Data Sync from the top menu.
-
Under Asset Data Mapping find the option Enable Asset Auto-Update.
-
Look for the Asset Auto Update toggle.
-
Toggle the setting to Enabled or Disabled as needed.
-
Changes are saved automatically.
When disabled, Setyl will still list newly detected assets from integrations but won’t automatically update fields for assets that have already been created.
When should you disable Asset Auto Update?
You may want to disable Asset Auto Update if:
-
You manage some asset details manually in Setyl and don’t want them overwritten.
-
The data from your integration is incomplete or inconsistent.
-
You want to control updates through manual workflows instead of automatic syncing.
How do I manage multiple integrations?
If you’ve connected more than one asset detection integration (e.g. Intune, JAMF, Addigy), Setyl uses integration prioritization to decide which source is used when multiple integrations provide data for the same field.
-
The highest-priority integration is treated as the source of truth when multiple integrations provide data for the same field.
-
Lower-priority integrations will still detect assets and can populate empty fields, but they won’t overwrite data when there is a conflict with a higher-priority integration.
How to set integration priority:
-
Navigate to Settings > Company Settings.
- Select Asset Data Sync from the top menu.
-
Under Prioritize Asset Integrations, use the up or down arrows beside each integration to set the preferred order.
- Changes are saved automatically.
The integration at the top of the list will be treated as the highest priority when resolving overlapping asset data.
