What are License Intelligence connections?

Connect apps such as Microsoft, Google Workspace, Slack and Zoom so Setyl tracks their licenses, assignees and usage automatically.

License Intelligence connections link Setyl directly to the apps you pay for. Setyl then keeps their licenses up to date for you, with no manual entry.

What Setyl syncs

Depending on the app, Setyl syncs:

  • License names, and the number of total and assigned seats
  • Who each seat is assigned to, matched to the right Person in Setyl
  • Last activity, so you can see who is actually using each license

Synced Licenses show a Managed by label, so you can tell they're kept up to date automatically. Setyl also flags seats still held by archived people or merged profiles.

On the Advanced and Advanced Managed plans, the usage data also powers Potential Yearly Savings, which shows how much you could save by removing inactive and spare seats.

Which plans include License Intelligence?

  • Microsoft and Google Workspace: all plans.
  • All other License Intelligence connections: Advanced and Advanced Managed.
  • Potential Yearly Savings: Advanced and Advanced Managed.

Connect an app

  1. Go to Settings > Integrations.
  2. Under License Intelligence Connections, find the app and click Connect.
  3. Follow the steps on screen. See the app's own guide for any permissions you need.

Once connected, the app's Licenses appear under Apps > All Apps. Open the App and select Licenses & Assignees.

Tips

  • Connect as soon as you can. Some apps only keep activity data for about 30 days, but Setyl stores it for longer, so the sooner you connect, the more history you build up.
  • If licenses or assignees are missing after connecting, disconnect the app and connect it again.
  • Licenses for apps people sign in to through Microsoft Entra ID or Okta can also be tracked. See the Microsoft 365 and Okta guides.
