Apple Business Integration Guide
Setyl integrates with Apple Business (Apple Business Manager) to help organizations automatically import their assets. This guide explains how to connect Apple Business with Setyl, what permissions are required, and what data is synced.
How the Apple Business integration works
Once connected, the Apple Business integration allows you to discover and import assets from Apple Business into Setyl. Assets imported from Apple Business will continue to be updated and maintained within Setyl automatically. This helps maintain accurate asset records and reduces the need for manual updates in Setyl.
The integration also retrieves warranty information for each device.
What data is synced?
Setyl will sync the following asset data:
- Name
- Manufacturer
- Model
- Serial Number
- Storage Size
- MAC Address
- IMEI
- Purchase Order No.
- Warranty Information
Warranty Information is sourced from the device's AppleCare coverage in Apple Business.
How often does the sync occur?
Asset data from Apple Business will sync automatically once every 24 hours, Monday to Friday and once upon initial integration. Warranty information from AppleCare is synced instantly.
Asset Auto Update can also be disabled. Further information, including how to configure integration priority settings, can be found here.
Note: You can also trigger a manual sync at any time if needed.
Setting up the Apple Business integration
Prerequisites
Before connecting Apple Business to Setyl, ensure you have:
- Organization Administrator access to Apple Business, with the ability to create an API account.
- A Setyl account with Owner-level admin permissions.
Creating an API account in Apple Business
The integration authenticates using an API account created in Apple Business. You will need the Client ID, Key ID, and a private key file from that account.
- Sign in to Apple Business as an Organization Administrator.
- Go to Settings → API.
- Click Add API Account, give the account a name, and set Role Access to IT Administrator.
- Generate and download the private key (
.pem) file. - Copy the Client ID and Key ID.

Connecting Apple Business to Setyl
- Navigate to Settings > Integrations in Setyl.
- Under Asset Detection Sources (MDM, RMM & others) locate Apple Business (Apple Business Manager).
- Click Connect.
- Under Connection, follow the on-screen instructions to enter the Client ID and Key ID, and upload the private key (
.pem) file. - Grant permission to complete the connection.
Please note that it may take several minutes before data begins to sync after the connection has been made.

Troubleshooting
If the integration fails to connect:
- Double-check your Client ID and Key ID.
- Disconnect and reauthorize the Apple Business connection.
