ConnectWise Manage Integration Guide
Setyl integrates with ConnectWise Manage allowing you to maintain an up-to-date inventory of IT assets. This guide explains how to connect ConnectWise Manage to Setyl, what permissions are required, and how the integration works.
How the ConnectWise integration works
Once connected, the ConnectWise integration allows you to discover and import assets from ConnectWise into Setyl. Assets imported from ConnectWise will continue to be updated and maintained within Setyl automatically. This helps maintain accurate asset records and reduces the need for manual updates in Setyl.
What data is synced?
Setyl will sync the following asset data:

Serial Number

Model
-
Manufacturer

Warranty Date
-
CPU
-
RAM
-
Operating System
How often does the sync occur?
Asset data from ConnectWise will sync automatically once every 24 hours, Monday to Friday and once upon initial integration. You can also trigger a manual sync at any time if needed.
Asset Auto Update can also be disabled. Further information, including how to configure integration priority settings, can be found here.
Setting up the ConnectWise integration
Prerequisites
Before connecting ConnectWise to Setyl, ensure you have:

Administrator access to your ConnectWise account (required to create the Security Role and API Member used by the integration)

A Setyl account with Owner level admin permissions
Configuring ConnectWise Security Role Permissions
If you do not wish to grant full Administrator access, you can create a dedicated Security Role in ConnectWise with only the permissions required by the integration.
In ConnectWise, go to System > Security Roles, create a new role (e.g. "Setyl"), and configure the following modules. All other modules can be left as None.

For modules marked with a (customize) link in ConnectWise, open the customize settings and ensure all sub-permissions are enabled.
Creating an API Member and generating API keys
After saving the Security Role in ConnectWise, create or update a Member to use the integration and generate the API keys Setyl needs to connect.
- In ConnectWise Manage, click System > Members and either select an existing member or create a new one.
- Assign the Security Role created above to the member.
- On the Member Maintenance screen, click the API Keys tab and then click the New Item button.
- In the Description field, type a description for the newly created keys (e.g. "Setyl").
- Click the Save button to save the new item. The two API keys are generated and displayed in the Public Key and Private Key fields.
- Copy and securely store both keys. When connecting in Setyl, enter the Public Key in the Username field and the Private Key in the Password field.
Important: Save your Private Key now. It cannot be retrieved later.
Connecting ConnectWise to Setyl

Navigate to Settings > Integrations in Setyl.
- Under Asset Detection Sources (MDM, RMM & others) locate ConnectWise

Click Connect.
- Under Connection follow the on screen instructions

Fill in the Company ID, Username (Public Key) and Password (Private Key).

Click Save and Connect.
Please note that it may take several minutes before assets begin to sync after the connection has been made.

Troubleshooting
If the integration fails to connect:

Double-check your Company ID, Username (Public Key) and Password (Private Key).
- Disconnect and reauthorize the ConnectWise connection.
